Associate Company Endpaper Theatre & Harrow Arts Centre present a new monthly development opportunity.
This brand new scratch event will offer writers and performers the space and platform to experiment and create new work for theatre inspired by literature, and audiences the opportunity to see brand new, exciting theatre-in-progress at a very low ticket price.
Artists or groups are invited to submit the title and chapter of the book they wish to adapt with a sentence or two on the desired approach or aim.
All submissions will be acknowledged.
We will invite artists / groups to participate each month based on submissions.
Submissions should be made to firstname.lastname@example.org
Option 1: Space to Grow
For existing collectives, we offer 2 hour slots of free rehearsal time so you can rehearse your reading and experiment.
Option 2: Space to Grow + Someone to Grow With
For solo writers. Endpaper can match you with a director and group of actors to spend a few hours in the day with you exploring possibilities and developing something to share at the scratch performance that evening.
The key is that all work shared is inspired by a chapter of any book, adapted in whichever way you see fit.
A panel of writers / theatre makers / artists will offer feedback on each contribution made on the evening, focusing on handling of material and process rather than performance standards. Comments will also be welcomed from audience members.
Audiences are invited to show their appreciation when the collection hat is handed round at the end of the evening!
