Learn to play the violin in a supportive and enjoyable environment and develop skills needed to accompany and improvise. People of all ages and backgrounds welcome. No prior knowledge of Indian music required.
The violin is an Indian classical instrument and is played both in South Indian and North Indian music musical traditions.
Balu Raguraman, our teacher is a highly sought after violinist in both as a performer and a teacher. He has performed with many senior artistes of the past and the present and as the resident teacher at The Bhavan Centre in London, Balu Raguraman takes pride in training students to an exceptional level.
Performances: Students are given opportunity to perform at PARAMPARA and regular In-Focus / Baithak events as performing is vital to their development as a musician.
Exams: Students are offered the option to sit the OCN accredited qualifications of the PRSSV World Music and Dance Board which are recognised worldwide.
PRSSV Sangeet College has been teaching in West London for over 30 years; our teachers are all experienced and they are also skilled performers. In our courses you will learn the basics of the instrument and of North Indian music as well as being exposed to some of the spiritual and cultural aspects of this music, its performance and study.
