Divyanand Caird is a South Indian (Carnatic) Classical musician based in London hailing from an Indo-Scottish heritage. He has been pursuing music full time from his early teenage years and chose to specialise in performing the Saraswati Veena (South Indian Lute). The Saraswati Veena is a traditional Indian stringed instrument from the lute family which has written historical references dating back to approximately 1700 BCE. This unique performance shared via Youtube will cover some of the repertoire and improvisation in the Karaikudi Vina Tradition which is the oldest surviving musical tradition in South India going back eleven generations.
This event is part of South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) which aims to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian history and culture, and build an understanding of the diverse heritage that continues to link UK with South Asia.
The Youtube Link for this performance will be shared from the 11th August
