Harrow Arts Centre are excited to promote this local production of 'Haydn's Creation' on behalf of 'Harrow Choral Society', who has hired our venue for this special occasion.
Harrow Choral Society is delighted to be returning to HAC’s Elliott Hall for its Spring concert on Saturday 18th March when the 90-strong choir will sing Haydn’s great oratorio, TheCreation, under the baton of its new conductor, Sam Evans.
One of the most popular works in the choral repertoire, The Creation promises to be an uplifting experience for our audience with its mix of lively choruses and sublime arias. Haydn’s setting of the Biblical creation story, composed in 1798, describes the transformation from chaos to the creation of the world and features tuneful and dramatic arias such as ‘The Heavens are Telling the Glory of God’ and ‘A New-created World’. For this performance, to be sung in English, the choir will be accompanied by an orchestra and four professional soloists.
HCS is always delighted to sing at the Elliott Hall where previous performances have included Mozart’s Requiem in 2018 and Haydn’s Missa Brevis and Rutter's Magnificat in 2015 under former music director, Simon Williams.
