In partnership with Harrow Music Service, Harrow Arts Centre presents a taster Carnatic workshop.
Carnatic music is the Southern Indian form of classical music, which has a rich history of more than 4000 years and strong links to Hindu religion. To find out more about this ancient tradition of music, which is still in practice in many countries around the world today, come and join our workshop. In this taster session you will get the opportunity to learn, sing, participate, ask questions and most importantly have fun with many others in the journey of getting to know about Carnatic music. Participants are welcome to bring an instrument if they play it, but the focus of this workshop will be on singing and rhythms.
This event is part of South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) which aims to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian history and culture, and build an understanding of the diverse heritage that continues to link UK with South Asia.
This event will be held via zoom. Book your ticket here and we will be in touch a few days before the workshop with the Zoom details.
