Join Illustrator and mindful art teacher Irene for a series of four charcoal drawing classes. Each class will have roughly the same format where you will draw a different animal each week.
During the sessions familes will be shown how to set up a sketch, how to use the different materials together and create an artwork step by step. You will work from rough shapes in the beginning of the class and work towards more detail at the end of the class. Anyone can join in, you do not need any prior drawing experience. The main intent is to help both kids and adults to grow in their confidence, to feel relaxed and to clear their heads of the worries of the day.
Families will learn how to use charcoal and how they can combine the different materials to create various textures. We are not looking to create a photo realistic drawing but rather an artistic interpretation of the animal that we are drawing.
Drawing helps with relaxation, creative thinking, observational skills, hand eye coordination and confidence. Throughout the class you will talk about the animal that you are drawing, what are the main characteristics and features that make them who they are. Everyone always notices different aspects and it shows (especially to kids) how everyone sees the world differently.
At the end of the class everyone will have a drawing that they made from scratch.
This course is intended for development and therefore participants should attend all 4 workshops – families will be sent a charcoal equipment kits ahead of the workshop. Sales will therefore close on Friday at 10am on Friday 24th September, 10:30am
