Lippan art is a clay art form from Gujarat, India. Designs were originally made from mud crafted directly onto walls as a form of interior design. Nowadays, this art form is done with clay on ply board or canvas to make wall hangings and decorations.
In this three-hour workshop, you will learn about the history of Lippan art and be provided with the necessary materials to practice different techniques, textures and patterns. By the end of the session, you will have created your own colourful Lippan art wall mural to take home.
Workshop Outline:
- Brief history of Lippan art
- Demonstration of the techniques, creating different textures and patterns
- Participants will explore their creative side, and compose their own Lippan design
- Interacting with clay to create the final work
- Explore the creative process of mirror
