Learn to play the Tabla in a friendly and supportive environment and develop the skills needed to accompany and improvise. (In-person small group, One to One or Online classes available)
People of all ages and backgrounds welcome. No prior knowledge of Indian music required.
Tabla is one of the most popular percussion instruments in the world. It is played with the hands and produces a wide range of musical sounds which are arranged into distinct rhythmic pieces.
Course:
Beginner: taking you from the very beginning of learning Tabla to being able to give a short performance.
Intermediate: developing your playing skills while deepening your understanding of taal, simple improvisation, accompanying instruments/singing as well as how to develop a performance.
Advance: helping you to develop your repertoire, improvising skills, accompanying dance, plus with opportunities to perform to supportive audiences.
Performances: Students are given opportunity to perform at PARAMPARA and regular In-Focus and Baithak events as performing is vital to their development as a musician.
Exams: Students are trained to sit the OCN accredited qualifications of the PRSSV World Music and Dance Exam Board which are recognised worldwide.
PRSSV Sangeet College has been teaching in West London for over 30 years; our teachers are all experienced and they are also skilled performers. In our courses you will learn the basics of the instrument and of North Indian music as well as being exposed to some of the spiritual and cultural aspects of this music, its performance and study.
