This deceptively humble material can be crafted to stunning effect. In this series of 4x 1-day workshops, designer Dan Maier will show you how to manipulate wire with
gratifying results. Each week will be a different project. Inspired by nature, we will create foliage and flowers for create sustainable bouquets, table decoration or 3D artwork. We will look at ornate fonts to create lettering and also learn how to make mobiles.
Alongside mastering the techniques, students will be encouraged to develop their own designs, enabling them to create pieces for themselves or friends and family which can be personalised.
About the Workshop Facilitator
Dan Maier graduated from Central St Martins in Textiles but her career has involved working in numerous media, both on intricate and enormous scales. She has created
artwork for window displays, cruise liners and West End theatres, as well as selling her designs to Liberty, Harvey Nichols and around the world. She also designs public
art pieces. She loves sharing her wealth of knowledge and the joyful and therapeutic elements of making. Her workshops are always relaxed, where students can immerse themselves in a creative process, providing an escape from everyday cares.
