Harrow Arts Centre invites the whole community of Harrow to come together and creatively explore our experiences of life in lockdown. From rainbows in windows to homeschooling, virtual date nights and weekly claps for nurses, what has moved, frustrated and made you laugh in these strange times? Could you capture this in a drawing, painting or photograph? If the answer is yes, we want to hear from you!
Once the arts centre has re-opened, we plan to curate a community exhibition, which will be on display for visitors from Thursday 10th September – Thursday 8th October 2020.
We know that Harrow is a talented borough so we welcome all art forms including painting, sculpture, photography, creative writing, poetry, music and dance videos. To help get you inspired… you could produce a piece of creative writing responding to a film you recently watched, take inspiration from your daily walk and capture this through photographs of your surroundings, or even write lyrics for a piece of music that we can display.
If you have already picked up a pen, camera or paintbrush and created something you’d like displayed, please send it in. We want to see as many submissions as possible! We will display all creative submissions in our gallery and exhibition corridors in September with an opportunity for your families and friends to attend a private view to officially open the exhibition.
Submission deadline: The deadline for submitting is Thursday 3rd September 2020
To submit: Please take a photograph or scan of your artwork(s) and submit to firstname.lastname@example.org. In the email, please put in the subject: Creative Quarantine and let us know if you would be happy for the arts centre to post the image on our social media platforms. Please include your names/where you live in Harrow/ and a brief description of the art work which can be used later for captions for the exhibition.
